Radiohead are an English alternative rock band from Oxfordshire. The band is composed of Thom Yorke (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano, electronics), Jonny Greenwood (lead guitar, other instruments), Ed O'Brien (guitar, backing vocals), Colin Greenwood (bass guitar, synthesisers) and Phil Selway (drums, percussion). Radiohead have released seven albums and have sold over 23 million records over their career.^[1]

Radiohead released their first single, "Creep", in 1992, and their debut album, Pablo Honey, in 1993. Though initially unsuccessful, "Creep" was a worldwide hit when reissued a year later. Radiohead's popularity in the United Kingdom increased with the release of their second album, The Bends (1995). The band's textured guitarfalsetto singing were warmly received by critics and fans. The release of Kid A (2000) and Amnesiac (2001) saw Radiohead reach their peak popularity, although the albums divided critical opinion. This period marked a change in Radiohead's musical style, with their incorporation of experimental electronic music, Krautrock and jazz influences. Hail to the Thief (2003), Radiohead's sixth album, blended styles from throughout the band's career, mixing guitar-driven rock, electronic influences and contemporary lyrics. Radiohead subsequently left their record label, EMI and released their seventh album, In Rainbows (2007), initially through their own website as a digital download for which customers selected their own price.

The Gathering is a Dutch band which came to fame in the second half of 1990s with vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen.

Their first two albums, Always... (1992) and Almost a Dance (1993), which played a part in the formation of gothic metal, were recorded with four different vocalists. Their subsequent release, Mandylion (1995), featured the debut of Anneke van Giersbergen singing with the band for the first time.

Their following studio albums Nighttime Birds (1997), How To Measure A Planet? (1999), if_then_else (2000) and Souvenirs (2003) showed the progression of the band from gothic-influenced metal to a somber alternative rock. Sleepy Buildings, released in 2004, is a live semi-acoustic performance recorded by the band over a course of two nights.

The band's latest album is called Home and was released in Europe and North America in April 2006.

On June 5, 2007 it was announced that Anneke is going to leave The Gathering in August 2007 to focus on a new project, Agua de Annique.

Leaves' Eyes is a symphonic metal band with folk metal elements from Norway and Germany assembled in 2003, shortly before singer Liv Kristine was fired from Theatre of Tragedy. Leaves' Eyes was formed by her husband Alexander Krull and members of his band Atrocity. The band combines atmospheric, metal and classical elements. The vocals of Liv Kristine are occasionally backed up by death grunts from Krull, but most of the time she sings alone.

Their debut album, Lovelorn, was released in 2004. The second album, Vinland Saga, was released 30th of May 2005, and retells the tale of the discovery of Vinland (i.e. North America) by Leif Erikson. The EP Legend Land was released on June 2, 2006 as a followup to Vinland Saga.

Liv Kristine thought of the band name, which is a homophone for her first name. Leaves is connected to nature, which has always been the biggest inspiration for her. Liv Kristine writes all of the lyrics for the band. ^[1]

Leaves' Eyes are currently working on their first DVD; which has been recorded during a show in Belgium. They supported Blind Guardian on their North American tour in November 2006.^[2] They were scheduled to tour with Kamelot and Fairyland, as well as King Diamond and Kreator in 2008 but the tour has since been cancelled due to King Diamond suffering a serious back injury.

Immortal's history begins in 1989 as death metal band Amputation. At various times throughout Immortal's existence, Abbath was lead vocalist, bassist, guitarist, keyboardist, drummer, and lyricist, mainly due to the inconsistent line-ups they were able to put together. During a long period of time, however, Abbath served the band as Vocalist, Bassist and (studio) Drummer while Demonaz played lead guitar. It wasn't until Horgh arrived that Immortal was able to secure a steady line-up; the problems however continued. After the release of Blizzard Beasts Demonaz was diagnosed with acute tendinitis, and was consequently forced to quit as guitarist, but remained as lyricist and band manager. They released At the Heart of Winter in 1999, this time with Abbath handling guitar and bass, with Horgh still on drums. This album marks a large shift in sound and style for the music of Immortal. In 2000 they released Damned in Black, with Iscariah on bass. Sons of Northern Darkness was released in 2002, with the same lineup.

Soon after the release of Sons of Northern Darkness, Immortal ceased to exist. The break-up was not caused by tensions or problems, but was rather a mutual one between all members, who claimed to do this for personal reasons.

Borlänge black metal band sorhin feature ex-Setherial and Midvinter drummer Zathanel. SORHIN, then with drummer Shamaatae of Arckanum as session man, first offered a 1993 demo "Svarta Själars Vandring" followed by a further effort in 1995 "I Fullmånens Dystra Sken." Band members would also be operational with Fafner, releasing the demos "Stycken Mörkre" in 1993, "Stycken Hata Kristers Blo" during 1994 and the 1995 compilation session "Trolskust."

The 1997 album "I Det Glimrande Mörkrets Djup" was produced by Hypocrisy's Peter Tägtgren and was released under the Neark Dark banner.

Nirvana was an American rock band that was formed by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington. Nirvana went through a succession of drummers, with the longest-lasting being Dave Grohl, who joined the band in 1990.

With the lead single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from their 1991 album Nevermind, Nirvana entered into the mainstream, bringing along with it a subgenre of alternative rock called grunge. Other Seattle grunge bands such as Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden also gained popularity, and, as a result, alternative rock became a dominant genre on radio and music television in the United States during the early-to-middle 1990s. As Nirvana's frontman, Kurt Cobain found himself referred to in the media as the "spokesman of a generation", with Nirvana the "flagship band" of "Generation X".^[1] Cobain was uncomfortable with the attention and placed his focus on the band's music, challenging the band's audience with their third studio album In Utero.

Nirvana's brief run ended with Cobain's death in April 1994, but the band's popularity continued in the years that followed. More than eight years later, "You Know You're Right", an unfinished demo from the band's final recording session, topped radio playlists around the world. Since their debut, the band has sold over fifty million albums worldwide.^[2] Nirvana remains a consistent presence on radio stations worldwide.
